Craving English is an online English-teaching academy based in Costa Rica. Naturally, a majority of our students are from here, many of whom are professionals taking classes between 4-9 PM CST. This time zone is ideal for those living in the Western Hemisphere, but you can work from any area of the world! If you already teach for Asia-based companies, Craving’s hours can complement your schedule.
💸 Secure payment methods.
Within the United States, we pay teachers monthly in US dollars using secure payment methods like Zelle. Outside of the United States, we pay teachers using Paypal and Wise (formerly known as TransferWise)
🧑🎓 Get a steady stream of students.
At Craving, teachers should be available for ten fixed hours during peak availability, 4-9 PM Costa Rica time, Monday – Friday. Opening your availability even more can allow you a steady stream of students!
🤓 Weekly workshops to improve your ESL teaching methodology.
You’ve probably been in a class and thought, “How do I explain this without saying – that’s just the way it is in English?” The weekly skills and grammar workshops teach you how to navigate these situations with ease! BONUS: there are monthly sessions to put into practice what you’ve learned AND senior teachers who give you advice.

Our remote academy loves to provide you with opportunities to know your coworkers more. Currently, we offer book club and culture club. Other social events we have hosted in the past include quiz night, roundtables on various topics, and showcases.
👧🏼 You don’t want to teach just children.
We love kids! However, maybe you’re just starting out in the ESL industry and aren’t ready to teach children. Many of Craving’s students are adults who want to improve their English for professional matters, so we will take your preferences into consideration.
💃 Free group classes (language and fitness)
It’s not necessary to know another language to teach here, but it definitely helps your teaching! You will be able to identify why students make the mistakes they do. Or, just learn for fun with your colleagues! And, take care of your health with a free online fitness class by a Costa Rican trainer. You can join fitness class anytime, and free language lessons are available after one full month of teaching at Craving.
😮💨 Yes, teachers deserve breaks too!
Ever had an emergency?! Your Internet stops working?! 😭These things happen. At some ESL academies, you can get penalized for these types of things. At Craving, we don’t believe in that kind of policy. If you have an emergency, our amazing community of teachers will be able to help you out! Plus, teachers are able to take off for 2 weeks at a time with prior warning, and their students will be reserved for them.
